At Career Teachers we are currently working in partnership with a specialist setting in the North of Leeds who require an additional teaching assistant to join their team from this September. This is a full time role, initially for the academic year but with the view of going onto a permanent contract. You will be working with students with complex learning needs, supporting them through the school day with all aspects of care.
The school is welcoming and inclusive environment based in an easily accessible area of North Leeds. They have expanded their classes and therefore now have need for an extra member of support to start this September. The working hours are between 8:30 and 15:30, term time only. The school has resources for students with differing learning needs and abilities and they pride themselves on ensuring each childs needs are met.
The ideal candidate will have supported young people with special needs previously and have an understanding of autism and other learning needs. The students you will working with are of a variety of different ages but are working at an Early Years/Key Stage 1 level, therefore knowledge of the EYFS curriculum would be beneficial. Any experience using communication tools such as Makaton, British Sign Language and PECS would be advantageous but some training can be provided.
