School Business Manager OR Office Manager

permanent post : 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Salary £33,898-£36,731( pro-rota 39 weeks plus one week in the holidays)

The full-time salary for this post is £38,296 - £41,496 there is flexibility for the right candidate to choose term time only or full-time working.

Our client is an inner city Leicester school and the children come from a wide range of culturally, ethnically and socially diverse backgrounds. Our client is looking to appoint an experienced Level 2 Business Manager to join their friendly team.

The successful candidate should have a proven track record in school based finance and business management, experience in dealing with HR issues, show initiative and be a great team leader who is able to incorporate strategic business development alongside the general day-to-day running of a busy school office.

The successful candidate will:

  • Offer strong financial leadership (for example, in: budget management, financial returns, processing orders and invoices, bank and payroll reconciliation, VAT returns, annual CFR return)
  • Have experience of using FMS, budget management software and SIMS, or their equivalent
  • Maintain positive and effective lines of communication with all service users, suppliers and external agencies
  • Have the ability to manage support staff
  • Be able to manage and maintain the SCR, visitor checks, DBS checks and personnel files
  • Have experience of school HR (for example, absence management, recruitment, contracts, timesheet management)
  • Maximise income from external funding agencies
  • Provide information, advice and recommendations to the school's leadership team and contribute to achieving agreed aims and objectives
  • Assist in the general day-to-day running of the school and the front office
  • Complete administrative tasks (for example, renewing contracts, school admissions, school census, maintaining records, minutes of meetings)
  • Implement and promote the school and Local Authority policies and procedures relating to all areas of employment and service delivery
  • Oversee GDPR within school and liaise with the Data Protection Officer
  • Manage policies and procedures, conforming to statutory guidance/legislation regarding renewals and ratification
  • Overview of school health & safety
  • Complete any other tasks which may be reasonably expected by the Head Teacher

Candidates should have:

  • Experience of working in a busy office
  • An ability to work under pressure and using their own initiative to meet deadlines
  • An ability to multi-task
  • Strong ICT skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety at work
  • The ability to operate effectively with minimum supervision
  • The ability to be flexible, adaptable and innovative
