Career Teachers are currently recruiting for a Pool Assistant for one of our SEND provisions.

Pool assistants work with and are responsible to the pool instructor, being line managed by the assistant head of trans-disciplinary teams.

Pool assistants are responsible for assisting in all of the duties involved with maintaining a safe and clean pool area whilst supporting the pool instructor to deliver high quality lessons that run smoothly.

Duties include:

  • assist the pool instructor in delivering high quality lessons and provide support where necessary to achieve this.

  • getting into the pool to assist in some classes as well as background support out of the pool in other classes.

  • Ensure staff and students follow Pool Rules

  • Provide Basic lifeguard cover

  • Provide support with personal care and manual handling. You will be given appropriate training to operate equipment used to get students in and out of the pool.

  • Cleaning and maintenance of all pool and changing areas as required.

  • Maintenance of the pool plant room and assisting in measuring and documenting pool chemical levels

Suitable Pool Assistants will have:

Organisational Skills: Pool Assistants call upon their organisational skills to keep moving and handling plan, maintain log books for chemical readings and order supplies.

Observational Skills: Pool Assistants call upon their observational skills to maintain a safe environment. They have to pay attention to the state of equipment and the environment.

Basic Problem Solving Skills: Pool Assistants need basic problem solving skills to be able to get the most out of a class' swimming slot.

Communication Skills: Pool Assistants use interpersonal skills to diffuse miscommunication and conflict between staff in the pool environment. They also use verbal communication skills to have positive interactions with numerous trans-disciplinary teams across the school.
