About the role:
The school are seeking to appoint an outstanding science practitioner with excellent subject knowledge and communication skills to join their successful science department on a full-time, permanent basis from January 2024. The science department consists of 14 teachers (4 of whom teach other subjects, are part-time or have responsibility elsewhere) - 5 biology specialists, 4 chemistry specialists and 4 physics specialists. They have three science technicians specialising in each of the scientific disciplines led by their nationally-recognised (Salters CLEAPSS national award) lead technician. The department has 9 science laboratories and an ICT suite equipped with 28 computers.
The school have a consistent approach to teaching and learning that ensures their broad and balanced curriculum is of exceptional quality across all departments and subject areas. Specialist teachers deliver their subjects with passion and enthusiasm. Lessons are meticulously planned and include a wide range of activities to engage all learners. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the head of science in implementing the department's improvement plans, while delivering quality first teaching.
