Career Teachers are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant, with Makaton training and/or experience to work within a mainstream Primary School in Sutton. The Primary School have a unit attached, specialising in providing additional support to students with Special Education Needs. The children who attend the unit mainly have Autism, but some have some additional needs such as speech & language and ADHD.
You will be working within the unit, supporting children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. The school like to ensure that the majority of their staff have experience or training to be able to effectively communicate with the children. You will need to have at least a basic knowledge and understanding of Makaton, but some further training can be arranged whilst you are working with the school.
- Have Makaton training and/or experience of using Makaton
- A good knowledge and experience of Autism, and other Special Educational Needs
- Prior experience of supporting children with Special Educational Needs
- Strong behaviour management skills and experience of positive behaviour management strategies
In addition to training provided by the school, you will also have access to the extensive range of CPD courses available whilst working with Career Teachers. Our training sessions are free of charge, and cover areas such as Autism Awareness, Phonics and Behaviour Management.
- ASAP start - Continuing until July 2020
- Based within mainstream Primary School in Sutton
- Pay between £65 - £85 per day (depending on experience)
