Have you considered a new career as a Teaching Assistant?

Working as a Teaching Assistant in Primary Schools is very rewarding and never boring! You will have the chance to support children in their learning and development, both in and out of the classroom.

You don't need a Teaching Assistant qualification to work in schools. But you will need some experience of working with young people. This may be from:

  • Theatre/drama workshops
  • Coaching a sports team
  • Youth work
  • Tutoring
  • Scouts/Guides etc.

Each day will be different. Whether you are supporting a child with their reading, having a breakthrough moment with a group of children in Maths, going out on a school trip or setting up the hall for a PE lesson.

To be successful as a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Have a good level of reading, writing and communication skills
  • Be passionate about working with children and making a positive contribution to their learning
  • Have strong interpersonal skills
  • Be flexible in your approach, and be happy to be involved in all areas of school life
