Learning Support Assistant- SLD- Severe Learning Difficulties

A large all-through school for children with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) including Autism (ASC) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) is looking for a number of motivated, compassionate and inspiring Learning Support Assistants to join their team in September 2021- at the start of the new academic year.

The school is well resourced, a model setting for those working within SEND and currently in a period of expansion and growth. With the opportunity to grow their provision by three classes in September comes the opportunity for new talent to join their team. If you are a compassionate, driven support worker with an excellent knack at building strong relationships, I want to hear from you!

Applications are encouraged from those with a background in working in SEND schools, residential support, care, or those with a vested interest in working within SEND careers such as Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists and similar.

Interviews will take place as applications come in.

  • £70-£90 per day
  • Long-term contracts for 1 year
  • September starts

Requirements

  • A patient and understanding approach and manner
  • A flexible and amenable attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Clear DBS check
  • Experience of PECS, Makaton, Intensive Interaction, Rapid Prompting Method and other relevant augmentative and alternative communication approaches are advantageous but not essential

Responsibilities

  • Be aware of, and remain responsible for all safeguarding of pupils within your care
  • Work collaboratively with both teaching and support staff to ensure best outcomes for students
  • Foster independence in students and promote well-being and good welfare
  • Support with the personal care of students
