SEND Teaching Assistant

We are currently looking for a number of teaching assistants to work in a SEN High school after Easter break on both long and short term basis. All students at this school have Education & Health Care Plans (EHCP's) specifying Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties as the primary need.

Our client is a specialist provision that recognises that student have individual needs and, as a small school, it is able to provide bespoke education and support for each student. It is central to our practice that each student is treated as an individual in order that the school can meet their complex needs

If you are a compassionate, driven teaching assistant with an excellent knack at building strong relationships, I want to hear from you!

Applications are encouraged from those with a background in working in SEND schools, residential support, care, or those with a vested interest in working within SEND careers such as Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists and similar.

Responsibilities

  • Be aware of, and remain responsible for all safeguarding of pupils within your care
  • Work collaboratively with both teaching and support staff to ensure best outcomes for students
  • Foster independence in students and promote well-being and good welfare
  • Support with the personal care of students

Requirements

  • A patient and understanding approach and manner
  • A flexible and amenable attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Clear DBS check
  • Experience of PECS, Makaton, Intensive Interaction, Rapid Prompting Method and other relevant augmentative and alternative communication approaches are advantageous but not essential

All quoted rates are inclusive of 12.07% holiday pay.
