A good secondary school in Kent are working with Career Teachers to recruit a teacher of PE to start in September. This is a permanent role and would be suitable for an NQT or an experienced teacher looking to work in a school with a clear vision and strong leadership.

The role will involve teaching KS3 and KS4, although the option to teach at KS5 will be available for those who desire it. The school are open to receiving applications from PE teachers with any specialisms, provided you are flexible and willing to teach other areas of the PE curriculum.

The Sports and PE department at the school is well-led and consistently excels in a number of areas, including county competitions. Pupils at the school enjoy their lessons and have an excellent understanding of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and keeping active. Experienced teachers will be given the opportunity to enrol in middle or senior leadership training and take on additional responsibilities within their department.

You will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), after completing a PGCE, Graduate Teaching Program (GTP), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), QTLS or equivalent overseas teaching qualification
  • Ideally have prior experience of teaching across KS3 and KS4 and possibly KS5 (NQTs should refer to their placement experience when applying)
  • Be passionate about teaching PE, keeping active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, with the ability to enthuse pupils through engaging teaching and coaching
  • Have a dedicated and creative approach when planning lessons and delivering learning activities
  • Differentiate effectively, ensuring that the needs of all learners are met, including those pupils on the EAL and SEN registers
  • Promote positive behaviour and use a range of behaviour management strategies effectively
