Are you a secondary school English teacher looking for a part-time role?

Career Teachers are working with a good secondary academy in Tendring to recruit an English teacher who is driven and able to challenge pupils to achieve to the highest possible standard. The school are looking for a teacher who has experience of teaching KS3 and KS4 pupils (and possibly KS5 as well). NQTs are welcome to apply, provided they have taught KS3 and KS4 during their placements. The role will be a permanent part-time position - 2 days per week - Mondays and Tuesdays.

Staff at the school are welcoming and there is a culture of collaboration and teamwork throughout. You will be provided with a comprehensive induction period led by the Head of department and you will have the opportunity to work with experienced colleagues to share good practice and manage your workload. English is taught in ability groups, with access to a well-equipped resource centre and computer room. Students follow the National Curriculum at KS3 and 4, whilst preparing the majority of students for AQA Language and Literature at GCSE. At A level, both English Literature and a combined course of English Language/ Literature are offered.

The school is part of a large trust, so this role will also give you opportunities to learn from other schools and share good practice. In addition, there is the potential to develop your career with the trust.

You will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), after completing a PGCE, Graduate Teaching Program (GTP), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), QTLS or equivalent overseas teaching qualification
  • Be capable of delivering high-quality teaching and learning outcomes
  • Have well-developed classroom management skills
  • Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge
  • Be able to enthuse pupils through engaging and interactive lessons
  • Have a dedicated and creative approach when planning lessons and delivering learning activities
  • Differentiate effectively, ensuring that the needs of all learners are met, including those pupils on the EAL and SEN registers
  • Promote positive behaviour in line with the school's values
  • Be committed to your own development and demonstrate a willingness to share good practice
  • Set high expectations of achievement and progress, supporting your pupils to reach their full potential.
