An Ofsted rated good primary school are working with Career Teachers to recruit two primary teachers to join their team from January 2020. They have a full-time position in year 5 available and a part-time (2.5 days) position in year 2 due to a maternity leave. Both roles will be on a contract basis until the end of July initially, with the possibility that they will be extended or made permanent.

This Catholic primary school is a one-form entry and their staff are extremely welcoming. You will be made to feel a part of the team and have a full induction to enable you to 'hit the ground running'. The school has a fantastic reputation in the local area and have a track-record of excellent results, which is testament to the effective leadership of the school, the skilled and talented teachers and the fantastic children who are well-behaved and keen to learn. There is no expectation that you will be a practising Catholic, but it is expected that you will promote the school's ethos and values.

The school will consider NQTs and experienced teachers for these roles, but would prefer an experienced teacher for the year 2 role due to the fact that it is part-time and you will share responsibility for the KS1 SATs assessments. You will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent qualification
  • Have prior experience of teaching in either KS1 or KS2 - NQTs should refer to their experience on placements
  • Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of the primary National Curriculum
  • Set high expectations for pupil achievement
  • Use Assessment for Learning effectively to ensure pupils make good progress
  • Plan lessons which are engaging and inspire pupils
  • Differentiate effectively, including for EAL and SEN pupils
  • Use a range of behaviour management strategies effectively
  • Be committed to your own CPD
