A lovely SEN school in West Drayton is currently seeking two Teaching Assistants to join our the team on their primary site in January 2021.

This well-respected school for students with autism supports nearly two hundred students across two sites aged 3.5 to 19. This role is based at the smaller of the two sites, with children aged from 3.5 to 11. They aim to deploy a wide range of teaching strategies to engage and develop the progress of learners, who present with a range of learning difficulties and styles. Students are taught in smaller class sizes and all students work towards an Equals Semi-Formal Curriculum and equivalent qualifications in functional skills.

About the Role:

As a TA, you will be responsible for safeguarding the young people and making sure they are healthy, safe and as comfortable as possible. You will assist in their learning by offering companionship and support, whilst ensuring their physical, mental and emotional needs are met. You will be required to prepare learning materials under the supervision of the teachers and to participate in learning activities. The TA will also be required to liaise with parents and staff with regards to the well-being of the young people.

This role involves working with young people who have complex behaviour associated with their learning needs. You will be trained to deescalate these situations and put in place pro-active strategies to avoid similar situations in future.

Who we are looking for?

My client values the social and emotional development of students as much if not higher than they do academic achievement. They want pupils to be successful citizens and positively contribute to their local communities: and as such, it will be imperative to provide opportunities to advance these skills. You will need to be compassionate, enthusiastic, reliable and resilient. The ideal candidate should be able to organise and plan a workload, communicate effectively and be prepared to work with varying types of difficulties. Experience of working with people with autism would be advantageous.
