Person Specification - Primary SEND Teaching Assistant - Barnet

To be successful in your application you must be able to provide sufficient references.

You must have a natural approach to teaching, inspiring young learners and maintaining high expectations in regards to attainment and personal development of all students. You will be experienced and or comfortable working with pupils with special educational needs such as dyslexia and autism.

About the Role - Primary SEND Teaching Assistant - Barnet

In this exciting and challenging Primary SEND Teaching Assistant position you will be working one to one and or in small groups to raise attainment. An average class in schools is 28-30 pupils. You will be confident in differentiating your lesson as and when required due to the mixed-ability of each class. You will be expected to plan effective and engaging lessons and monitor pupil progress closely, ensuring that your class has the right balance to maximise learning potential. You may also take part in parent/guardian evenings.

The needs of the pupils within these mainstream primary schools include:

  • Autism
  • Non verbal
  • Students working on p levels
  • Down syndrome
  • Speech and language difficulties

Experience having worked with pupils with similar needs in a primary setting is essential.
