Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant required as soon as possible in Leeds.
Are you a nurturing and confident teaching assistant looking for a new and rewarding role in Leeds?
Do you have previous knowledge and experience of working with students with special educational needs?
If so, we have a new, exciting opportunity for you to join a successful team within a specialist school in Leeds.
This is a long-term role due to begin as soon as possible. You will be working with students who have a variety of different special educational needs including autism, ADHD and physical and medical needs, therefore the ideal candidate will come from a background of working with children and young people who have additional learning needs and be confident and comfortable in their ability to support students well.
The school is located in an easily accessible area of Leeds, with parking on site and good public transport links. They cater for students from all backgrounds, aged 2 to 19 years of age and have excellent on site resources to cater for all of the different levels of learning.
We are looking for someone who is patient and empathetic, able to create a calm and positive learning environment where vulnerable students can feel safe and can therefore thrive and progress. Your main role is to engage students in the learning and activities set by the class teacher, using any resources and strategies needed to enable the child access for learning.
Relevant qualifications or CPD would be beneficial, training such as Makaton and PECs would be helpful but can also be provided.
