At Celsian Education we are currently working in partnership with a Specialist Setting in the Leeds area who require additional teaching assistants to join their successful team as soon as possible.
The roles will be full time and will be on-going, initially until the Christmas break but with the view of continuing for the rest of the academic year.
The school is located in an easily accessible area of Leeds, with parking on site and good public transport links. The ideal candidate will have a background of supporting students with Special Needs such as Autism and be confident in their ability to manage challenging behaviours.
Your main duties will be:
-Supporting students with special educational needs, tending to personal hygiene needs if needed.
-Supporting students who may be non-verbal, using communication tools such as Makaton and PECS (training can be provided)
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher, assisting with care plans and activities.
-Creating a calm and positive environment for learning, making sure that the students feel valued and that the classroom is inclusive.
-Taking into consideration each child's needs and making sure that all learning and activities are accessible to them.
