I am currently working on behalf of a great school based in Tower Hamlets, who are looking to appoint a suitably qualified, passionate and motivated Science teacher to join a great department in January 2020. The role will encompass all year groups, Key Stages 3 & 4.
Science teaching vacancy, fantastic school - Tower Hamlets, January 2020 start
- Outstanding training school, seeks Newly Qualified or experienced Science specialist
- Chance to consolidate training at school revered for its teaching practice
- Excellent department that has forward thinking HOD
- Superb support network for NQTs
The opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 at the associated 6th form centre is also a possibility for experienced practitioners (NQTs will be given the opportunity train and learn on the job). Ideally the School will be looking to appoint a Biology specialist, however would consider applications for other science specialists. The School do not struggle with staffing and there is no large turnover in personnel, they would like to make sure that they explore all avenues to appoint the very best teacher available for September to continue the already great Science teaching delivered at Key Stage 3 and 4. They have a great retention, staff well being and training program so that you are kept as current as possible with the changing landscape of teaching in London. Teaching resources at the school are excellent, the Science department is strong and has a mix of experienced teachers which makes for an enjoyable atmosphere. You will be given the freedom to teach the subject the best way you see fit, however there is also a very good support network to ensure you are given guidance if needed. The School has capacity to offer induction terms for NQTS however equally would like to appoint a teacher with experience. The SLT and NQT Coordinator at the school are geared up to making you an effective practitioner if yet to complete NQT year. Behaviour at the school is generally excellent, however there are certain students in certain year groups that can display more challenging behaviour (which is no different to any secondary comprehensive school) and as such you will need to be able to demonstrate the appropriate strategies to manage this. They do cater for students of all abilities and as such being able to create differentiated and engaging lessons is a very desirable trait and will act as a tool to ensure behaviour is good. Science continues to be a very popular subject at the school and results at Key Stage 3 and 4 are very good.
The School will offer a competitive package and a clear pathway for progression. They have an excellent track record of promoting from within and members of the SLT were originally class teachers. The Science department has a strong record of turning science teachers into Middle Leaders and beyond.
