Position: Learning Support Assistant

Pay: £70 - £80 per day

Career Teachers are looking to recruit an experienced learning support assistant to work at a secondary school in the Rochdale area. The position would suit someone who has previously worked as a learning support assistant, teaching assistant or cover supervisor within a secondary school environment.

The role will involve working with pupils in both KS3 & KS4 and supporting the class teacher. You will be required to work with the whole class but also working with smaller groups and with individual pupils on a 1-1 basis as well. The position will begin in January 2022 and will continue full-time until the end of the academic year.

The students will be attending a variety of lessons so you will need to be flexible and adaptable in your approach. Some pupils may be disengaged from the lesson or exhibit disruptive behaviour and these individuals may require particular attention and support.

Key requirements:

  • Previous experience working with secondary age pupils
  • Tenacious, flexible and adaptable
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Good behaviour management strategies
  • Ability to work with and support the class teacher
