Pay: £110 - £175 per day

Career Teachers are looking for an experienced DT Teacher to work at a local secondary school in the Manchester area on a short-term basis through until Christmas to cover an absence.

The role will involve teaching DT Robotics & Product Design to KS3 pupils. This is a split role and will also require the applicant to work as a DT Technician and be familiar with maintaining equipment in the DT room.

Key requirements:

Teaching role:

  • Knowledge of and ability to teach Robotics and programming to Y8 using Lego EV3.
  • Ability to teach Product Design to Y9 including use of the vacuum former.

Technician role:

  • Knowledge of workshop machines and associated health and safety, to carry out daily inspections and basic maintenance when required.
  • Experience of using milling machine and centre lathe, to support 6th Form students.
  • Use of band and circular saws to prepare materials.
  • Knowledge of 3D printers, ability to clean and carry out regular maintenance on 3D printers.
  • Knowledge of laser cutters, ability to clean and carry out regular maintenance on laser cutters.
  • Ability to etch PCBs using the etch tank.
  • To be able to give in-class support to KS4 and KS5 pupils during manufacturing lessons.
