Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant

Career Teachers are seeking experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to work for an Alternative Provision based in Ilkeston. This position involves you working 1:1 or in small groups with children and young people who have a range of complex needs and behaviours.
Due to the needs of the students you will be required to have a full UK driving licence and your own transport. The reason for this is that part of your role is to collect pupils from their home address and take them into the school setting or into the community. The reason for this is to help them achieve the best outcome for their learning in which ever environment best suits them.
You will assist and deliver lessons set via the class teacher. Your role as a teaching assistant is to ensure you work alongside the teacher to ensure the pupil you are supporting meets their needs relating to their learning and development. You may be with the same students all day, or you may have half a day with one pupil and half a day with another. Every day is different and comes with new challenges, however this role is extremely rewarding. Once your pupil has finished their learning for the day, it is your job to ensure a write up of the session is completed.
The alternative provision caters for children and young people aged 7 to 19 years. The school aims to assist these pupils to develop new skills and capabilities allowing them to be more independent and employable.
You will be working Monday to Friday 09:00 to 15:00. This is 30 hours per week and is a genuine temp to perm position for the right candidate.
Requirements of the role:
- Be calm and patient in your approach
- Have a full UK Driving Licence and your own transport
- Be level 3 qualified or working towards
- Have a DBS on the update service or able to apply for one through Career Teachers
- Have experience working with Special Educational Needs
- Excellent communication skills
