BSL Support Assistant British Sign Language Level 3Special Educational NeedsHearing Impairments Full Time, Leeds

At Celsian Education we are currently working with a Specialist Setting in Leeds who require an additional member of staff to support a profoundly deaf student on a 1:1 basis. This is a full-time role due to begin as soon as possible and run for the whole academic year, with the view of going onto a permanent contract with the school.

The ideal candidate will hold British Sign Language Level 3, but candidates who are confident signing with level 2 or who are working towards level 3 will also be considered. You will be joining a successful team of extremely dedicated practitioners therefore we are looking for someone who is looking to commit to a new and rewarding role.

You will be working in a Special School that caters for students with a variety of SEND. Your main duties will be working as a communication support worker for a student who is autistic and profoundly deaf, therefore experience working with students with autism is also essential. You will be helping to break down communication barriers and ensuring inclusivity within the classroom. You will be making sure that the student you are supporting can access and understand lessons and activities to the best of your ability.

Role requirements:

· You must hold a British Sign Language Qualification (BSL) of Level 2 or above and be confident in your ability to communicate through BSL. · You will have previous experience supporting deaf and hearing-impaired students on a 1:1 or small group basis. · Experience with SEND such as Autism is also essential. · You will be working full time, from half past 8 to half past 3 Monday to Friday. Term time only.· You will be passionate about supporting students with additional learning needs and driven to ensure that they receive the correct care in order to reach their full potential.
