Career Teachers are currently recruiting for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join an Ofsted 'GOOD' Primary School in Barking & Dagenham. You will be supporting 4 SEN Teaching Assistants based in an ARP deliver lessons to pupils who have all been diagnosed with autism, the class size is between 8-12 students.

The position will involve providing classroom support to students in small groups as well as managing the SEN teaching assistants in the class. You will also be asked to deliver lessons that have been planned by the Class Teacher. You will also be delivering various sessions throughout the week and will involve you closely working with the class teacher and SENCo. This will be a full-time, long-term position starting after the May half term.

Contract Type: Full time, 5 days a week

The successful applicants will have:

  • Previous experience working with Autism, SEMH and/or EBD
  • Previous experience managing challenging behaviour
  • Ideally experience working with children and/or young people
  • Valid and enhanced child or child and adult DBS check

The role will consist of:

  • Offering support to the class teacher
  • Deliver various sessions throughout the week
  • Provide support for individuals and groups of pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans
  • Building good student - teacher rapport

To be eligible for this role you must have an Enhanced Child barred list DBS Certificate registered on the update service or willing to get one.
