Career Teachers are working with a community-focused Primary school in Oldham who are looking for positive Teaching Assistants specialising in ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) to work on a long term placement starting from September.

Are you experienced in working with young people with autism?

Can you use your knowledge and enthusiasm to help children to develop both socially and academically?

These ASC Teaching Assistant roles will involve working on a one to one basis with Key Stage 2 pupils with Autism within a warm and friendly primary school in Oldham.

You will be supporting the student across a range of activities and lessons pre-set by the class teacher, but may need to adapt these to suit the individual needs of the child. Structure and routine are important for these pupils and you will need to be patient. These positions are specifically for Teaching Assistants that have experience of working with pupils with autism.

This developing primary school caters for around 300 children aged 3 to 11 years old. They aim to provide the best quality education to help every child succeed in a safe and happy environment. With a supportive staff team and good communication, they help pupils to learn key life skills with a focus on 'respect' for all; supporting pupils in becoming caring members of the community.

To be successful in this ASC Teaching Assistant role you will need;

  • Experience working with SEND; specifically autism
  • Patience and resilience
  • Good literacy, numeracy and communication skills
  • A positive, caring attitude and flexible approach
