Celsian are looking for a number of cover supervisors for schools throughout the West Yorkshire area, starting immediately.
Typical Duties: -Undertaking whole class supervision in the absence of the class teacher, setting work previously prepared by the teacher -Developing curricular knowledge as required by the school -Applying the school's behaviour management policy and report any difficulties to the class teacher/head teacher -Setting homework previously prepared by the teacher -Marking elements of class work and homework under the guidance of the class teacher -Undertaking observations of the pupils and contribute to pupil records -Administering (and marking) class tests -Supervising the work of the Teaching Assistant -Abiding by and work towards all the policies within the school e.g. behaviour management, Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities -Carrying out the above duties in accordance with the Children's Services Department's Equal Opportunities Policy.
Cover Supervisors are usually requested by the schools at very short notice i.e. the evening before or on the day of the booking. This type of work will not suit everybody - so your circumstances must allow for this.
This type of role will suit empathetic, compassionate, well-presented and professional individuals, and possibly those looking to get into teaching in the future. You will also need to be a very positive and motivational person.
- 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, including English and Mathematics.
- Previous teaching support experience with children
- A good level of spoken and written English
