Danielle's Journey from Melbourne University to London

Danielle from the University of Melbourne talked to us about her experiences teaching in London

Why did you choose to teach in London?

A friend from Australia had worked in London and loved it. I also thought it would be an exciting adventure and a wonderful experience.

How was the relocation process? Did you feel prepared before you started teaching? How were you supported by Career Teachers?

Career Teachers held an information session. They also helped me setup a bank account and tried to help me find accommodation. I felt ready to teach by the time I had my first day as a supply teacher in London.

Has your experience in London had an impact on your teaching career? What have you done since?

Teaching in London helped my ability to change lessons on the spot. It also gave me confidence in teaching all primary school levels. Since teaching in London I have been working as a grade 3 teacher.

What did you enjoy the most about living and working in London?

I loved meeting new people from all over the world. I loved the flexibility of being a supply teacher.

What advice would you give someone who is thinking of teaching in London?

DO IT! It is such an amazing experience. You will not regret it.
