Register with Career Teachers

Registration Process Explained

How to register for work with Career Teachers

Our registration process has changed due to the impact of COVID-19. We are committed to keeping our staff and candidate as safe as possible during this time so we now operate an online process when you register for work in schools across the UK.

You can either apply to one of the education positions - Teaching, Support Staff, Office and Senior Leadership roles we have or contact your nearest branch and speak to one of our experienced Consultants.

You will receive a call from one of our team, and this will either be over the phone, via Skype or on a video call. You will receive emails from us with the registration documents (including the application form) we need you to complete.

You will need to provide the following:

  • Passport or full birth certificate & photo ID & NI number
  • Right to work in the UK (if applicable)
  • Enhanced DBS certificate (must be online registered). If you are unable to provide this Career Teachers will be able to process a new one for you.
  • Overseas police check (if you have lived for more than 6 months abroad in the last 5 years)
  • Reference information – 2 years for support staff and teachers or back to the point of qualification
  • Proof of address – e.g. bank statement or utility bill

Currently we will not be able to receive these in person so we ask that you take clear photos and send them through to us. When we are operating from the office we will ask you to send or bring these documents to us so we can originally sight them.

  • Teacher – QTS or your original teaching certificate including your Teacher Reference Number. Pay scale point - please bring evidence of your MPS /UPS
  • Early Years Educator / Nursery Nurse - Please provide your original certificate stating your Level 3 qualification
  • Teaching Assistant - Please provide any relevant qualification / training certificates including Maths and English GCSE (if held)

During your registration interview, you will be able to discuss your teaching work requirements and provide you with information about our services. The whole process should take no more than an hour.

After your interview, the Compliance team at Career Teachers will process your application. Reference checking is critical and so providing clear and accurate reference information will enable us to clear you for work promptly.

What our Candidates say about us

I have worked for career teachers for a number of years now and have always been impressed by their professionalism, welcoming nature and knowledgeable attitude when it comes to teaching. I have recently been to some of their training days, just to keep myself up to scratch on everything education and it was great! really worth going to.

Nigel, SEND Teacher

I have worked with many teaching agencies and in my experience Career Teachers is the best. They get the best schools and teaching posts, always friendly and easy to approach and pay the best rates in the market. Absolute gems of recruiters, thanks so much for all your hard work; it's always an absolute pleasure working with you!

Noel, Primary Teacher

I started working with career teachers a year before i moved over to England. From the start they were warm and welcoming, offered me great advice when it came to knowing how to choose the right agency for me. I met up with a recruiter at my university job fair and had an on the spot interview, where I was given lots of information about teaching in England and a chance to get started on my application. From that moment on, they've always been supportive, helping me make sure I had all my papers and references in order.

Rebecca, Secondary Teacher

I have been working as a Supply Teacher for Career Teachers for over a year and have had a really positive experience I have formed a good relationship with my consultant and have found everyone I have spoken to be honest and helpful. Mostly I get work every day at friendly and welcoming schools. I have really enjoyed my time working for them and would happily recommend Career Teachers to other teachers and support staff.
