SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
This course aims to give teachers and teaching assistants an overview of the most common types of Special Education Needs (SEN) seen in classrooms. The course will provide practical advice on how to best support identified children independently, within groups and during whole class situations.
INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARD BASIC TRAINING
Using our interactive whiteboard, this course will take you through the basics of using the SMARTBoard Notebook whiteboard software. We will demonstrate the key features of the programme and share some easy to use techniques that will be invaluable for those last-minute lesson situations.
PHONICS
This new course is ideal for teaching assistants working in Reception and Key Stage One and could benefit teachers who are new to phonics teaching in the UK. The course uses materials from the TDA and Letters and Sounds to review and develop the fundamental ideas behind phonics teaching to develop strong reading and writing skills and looks at teaching methods outlined in the DfE letters and sounds documents.
LITERACY AND NUMERACY FOR TEACHING ASSISTANTS
This course, based on government materials for teaching assistants explores the primary frameworks for Literacy and Numeracy. The course offers explanations of the frameworks as well as practical advice on how to support pupils and teachers in the daily literacy and numeracy hours. This is a highly recommended course for Teaching Assistants working from Foundation – Year 6.
BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT
This course enables teachers and teaching assistants to discuss and develop strategies for promoting positive behaviour within the classroom. Suitable for both primary and secondary teachers the course includes advice at setting expectations and responding to inappropriate behaviours. This course may not be a magic answer to how to manage pupils, but it will certainly allow you to develop your ideas and working practice with other teachers!
